Mental Health Counseling Program Manager

Memorial Assistance Ministries (MAM) serves the Houston Community by providing Mental Health Counselors who are skilled in handling challenging situations with people in crisis who come from all walks of life while treating them with dignity and respect.
We are proud to serve a diverse demographic of clients, and at this time we are seeking an entry level mental health counselor who can read, write, speak, and understand both English and Spanish to serve them.
This is a part-time position, approximately 32-36 hours per week.
This role is responsible for providing a range of ethical and clinically appropriate mental health treatment services to adults, children, families, couples, and groups in compliance with HIPAA, HB300, and other current laws and regulations.
As a critical position at MAM, our counselors assure the client’s primary mental and emotional health care needs are supported so that basic life responsibilities (work, school, home) are attainable through clinical services, evaluations, and crisis intervention. Our counselors develop and write treatment plans, determine if clients should be counseled or referred to other specialists, document progress notes and diagnostic summaries, and maintain clinical records for demographic reporting through MAM and other legally obligated channels.
Additionally, our counselors collaborate with other programs of MAM, clinicians, community partners and/or refer clients to other programs or clinicians to ensure client needs are met. You will have the opportunity to educate the community on a variety of mental health issues, facilitate workshops and other events, and create informational print and electronic materials.
As appropriate, sessions can be completed remotely 50% of the time to ensure the health safety of the therapist and their clients. The therapist uses their professional judgment to determine in which TeleHealth appointments are appropriate depending on the clients’ needs, approach in therapeutic practices, and/or clients’ risk of (danger to self). In remote working, the therapist must provide a secure environment to work from, whether it is from their home or in office, which is conducive to privacy and confidentiality to remain HIPAA compliant. Most clients will be met during the day, however, our candidates must have flexibility to occasionally work in the evening and/or on weekends in order to accommodate the scheduling needs of clients and/or to support or attend events of or on behalf of MAM.
To qualify, candidates must have earned a Master’s degree in Education, Social Work, or Counseling with at least 3 years relevant clinical work experience. Additionally, they will have current licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).
